Experience
I have studied and worked within the area of psychology and/or counselling for the last ten years and have experience of working with clients both privately and in an agency setting, on both short-term and long-term contracts. I have particular experience of working with:
- clients who are dealing with drug and alcohol problems;
- clients who are dealing with domestic abuse;
- clients exploring sexuality and gender issues.
However, what is important to me is your experience, which is unique to you.
Qualifications
I started my training with a BSc in Psychology and a Foundation Year in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I then undertook a full-time Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology at Regent's College, School of Psychotherapy and Counselling Psychology, London.
I am currently in the fifth year of my doctorate, and in the final stages of undertaking research into the experience of emotional connection in therapy, which I consider to be a very important part of the therapeutic relationship.
I am registered with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and am a member of the Society for Existential Analysis (SEA). I have been published in the Journal of the SEA.
I abide by the BPS code of ethics.
Before training to be a Counselling Psychologist
Before training to be a Counselling Psychologist I was a solicitor specialising in pensions law, so I understand the particular stresses that working in a demanding profession can bring. If you are dealing with redundancy, career change, or stress-related problems then I would be happy to explore these issues with you.
